On November 22, UOU hosted the 2024 Fall Semester Ulsan Cultural Tour, providing exchange students with an enriching opportunity to explore the history, art, and culture of Ulsan.
The day began with a visit to the Ulsan Museum of Art, where students admired a variety of inspiring artworks. They were particularly captivated by a special exhibition focused on the intersection of art and artificial intelligence, offering a glimpse into how AI is shaping the future of creativity and innovation.
For lunch, students enjoyed 돈뼈국밥 (pork bone soup), a hearty and flavorful Korean dish, allowing them to experience the unique tastes of Ulsan's local cuisine.
In the afternoon, the group visited the Whale Museum in the Jangsaengpo Whale Culture Zone. Through engaging exhibits and displays, they learned about the rich whaling history of Ulsan, a city once known as the center of Korea's whaling industry.
The tour continued with a scenic Monorail Ride to the Jangsaengpo Whale Culture Village, where students stepped back in time to the 1960s. They tried on vintage-style school uniforms, explored a nostalgic recreation of the old whale village, and gained insight into the daily lives and traditions of that era. This cultural tour was not only an educational experience but also a chance for students to bond, share memorable moments, and deepen their understanding of Ulsan's heritage. |
